At the call of their union at least 39,000 pensioners of the Civil Servants' Pension Fund (CRF) are launching this Monday, May 10, 2021 an unlimited sit-in before the primacy, even if it has no more tenant since Congo has been waiting for the appointment of a new Prime Minister for a week. These pensioners are demanding payment of more than 33 months of cumulative pension arrears. Many are in a difficult social situation.
Head shaved, a watch on his right arm, his jeans casually donned, Raymond Kihoulou, a former employee of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) arrived visibly angry at the meeting that decided to organize the sit-in of pensioners. They say they have exhausted all avenues to get their pension arrears paid.
A few days before this meeting, Raymond Kihoulou simply asked the agents of the water and electricity companies who were brandishing bills at him to come back later. "We are going through a very difficult situation. It is very difficult, especially since I am unable to cope with water and electricity bills. From time to time we call for help from friendly countries because pensions are paid in a tailspin. We received our pension in December. It's been over four months. It's hard to live without a pension," said the pensioner, who has been unpaid for months.
This man has worked for more than 30 years. He really doesn't understand why he doesn't receive his pension: "I don't see the reason because the money is withdrawn at source. As soon as you pay public servants, you have to automatically think of retirees. I think it is a fact on purpose, a lack of will, a lack of governance. »
Raymond Kihoulou and his retired colleagues believe that they are victims of a "misappropriation of money from the allowances". They do not understand the precariousness in which they live after an election period when money flowed, especially during the campaign.
